11 examsA simple 10-week mock test strategy
A framework that works for most competitive exams. Adjust the timeline to your exam date.
Week 1-2: Baseline
Take one full-length mock test cold. Do not study first. The goal is a baseline that shows your weak sections.
Week 3-6: Fix and drill
Study the weakest topics, do topic-wise questions, and take one full mock every week. Log every error by type.
Week 7-10: Speed and stamina
Move to two mocks a week at real exam timing. Practise skipping hard questions and returning to them.
Final 2 weeks: Revise
Stop learning new topics. Revisit the error notebook, formulas and short notes, and take lighter mocks to stay sharp.
Free online mock tests for competitive exams in India and abroad
Mock Archive is a free mock test platform for students preparing for government jobs, engineering and medical entrances, management exams, law and design entrances, teaching and research eligibility tests, and international admission and licensing exams. Every paper runs in a computer-based test (CBT) interface so that the first time you see a question palette, a section timer or a Mark for Review button is not on the day of your real exam.
Why mock tests are the fastest way to improve
Knowing a topic and scoring on it under a clock are different skills. Regular mock tests train three things that notes alone cannot: time management across sections, question selection (knowing which questions to skip), and composure under pressure. A well-analysed mock also shows exactly which chapters, question types and habits are costing you marks, so your next week of study is targeted rather than random.
Mock tests for government exams
Practise for UPSC, SSC (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD, CPO, JE), Banking (IBPS PO, Clerk and RRB, SBI PO and Clerk, RBI Grade B, NABARD, LIC AAO), Railways (RRB NTPC, Group D, ALP), defence (NDA, CDS, AFCAT, Agniveer, CAPF) and state PSC exams. Banking and SSC exams reward speed and accuracy, so the sectional timers and negative marking in our CBT mode are especially useful.
Mock tests for engineering, medical and entrance exams
Prepare for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT, VITEEE, GATE, NEET UG, NEET PG, CUET UG and PG, CLAT, NIFT, CAT, XAT, SNAP, CMAT and IPMAT. For JEE, our papers include numerical-value questions with section-wise marking, and as NEET and other long-format papers are added you can rehearse the full sitting.
Mock tests for study abroad, language and professional exams
Build familiarity with IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic, Duolingo English Test, GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, LSAT, MCAT, USMLE, PLAB, NCLEX, UCAT, CPA, CFA, ACCA, US CMA, CIA and FRM. Each exam page explains the pattern, scoring and preparation approach so you can plan before you practise.
How to get the most out of every mock
- Take it in one sitting, at the real exam timing, with no phone and no pauses.
- Spend at least as long reviewing the result as you spent attempting the test.
- Classify each lost mark as a concept gap, a calculation slip, a misread question or a time-pressure error.
- Keep an error notebook and revise it weekly, since repeated mistakes cost more than new ones.
- Track your trend across five to ten mocks rather than reacting to a single score.

Everything you need to know about practising on Mock Archive.
Q1 Is Mock Archive really free?
Yes. Every mock test on Mock Archive is completely free, with no account, subscription or payment required.
Q2 Do I need to sign up to attempt a mock test?
No. All mock tests run entirely in your browser, with no login or signup, and your answers are not sent to a server.
Q3 Which exams does Mock Archive cover?
Mock Archive has pages for 73 exams, including 48 Indian exams such as UPSC, SSC, IBPS, SBI, RBI, RRB, JEE, NEET, GATE, CAT, CLAT, NDA, CDS and CTET, and 25 international exams such as IELTS, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, SAT, PTE, MCAT, USMLE, CPA and CFA. Full-length mock papers are being added continuously, starting with JEE Main and SSC CGL.
Q4 Are the mock tests based on the real exam pattern?
The interface follows real computer-based exams: question palette, Save & Next, Mark for Review, countdown timer, section timers for sectional exams and instant scoring. Marking schemes are set per test, to match the paper being practised.
Q5 What is the difference between the two test interfaces?
Exams like JEE use a freely navigable interface with one overall timer. Exams like SSC and Banking use a sectional interface with a separate countdown per section, where sections are attempted in order.
Q6 Does the mock test go full screen?
Yes. As soon as you click Proceed, the test switches to full screen to reduce distractions, as in a real exam. You can exit with the full-screen toggle in the toolbar.
Q7 Is my test data saved or sent anywhere?
No. Your answers, timer and score are calculated in your browser and are never stored on our servers.
Q8 Can I use Mock Archive on my phone?
Yes. The whole site, including the test interface, is responsive. A slide-up question palette is used on small screens, and you can install the site as an app from your browser's Add to Home Screen option.
Q9 Is the test available in Hindi?
Yes. The instructions and test interface can be switched between English and Hindi from the language selector.
Q10 How many mock tests should I take before my exam?
Most candidates benefit from 15 to 30 full-length mocks over the last two to three months, as long as each one is analysed properly. One carefully reviewed mock is worth more than three rushed ones.
Q11 How do I request a new exam or paper?
Use the contact page or email [email protected] to request an exam, report an error in a question or suggest an improvement.
Q12 Does the website work in dark mode?
Yes. Use the sun and moon toggle in the navbar to switch themes. Your preference is remembered for your next visit.
Q13 Who is behind Mock Archive?
Mock Archive is a Scholar Donkey project. Scholar Donkey builds free learning resources for students, and Mock Archive is its dedicated mock test platform.
Q14 Is Mock Archive affiliated with any exam conducting body?
No. Mock Archive is an independent practice platform. Exam names belong to their respective owners, and you should always rely on the official notification for dates, syllabus and rules.
