About the FRM exam
Financial Risk Manager is one of the better-known exams for study, work or licensing abroad. It is administered by Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) and attracts a large number of candidates each cycle. The exam is held twice a year, in May and November.
Format of the real exam: Computer-based test at Pearson VUE centres. Practising in the same style is the quickest way to remove surprises on exam day, which is exactly why FRM mock tests matter.
FRM eligibility
No formal prerequisites to sit the exams; two years of relevant experience are needed for certification.
Eligibility rules, age limits and relaxations can change between cycles, so always confirm the details in the latest official notification from Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) before you apply.

How to prepare for FRM
A good FRM plan combines concept study, topic-wise practice and regular full-length mock tests. Use the checklist below as a starting point.
- Practise calculator-based questions with the approved calculator models.
- Follow the GARP curriculum closely, since the exam is mapped to it.
- Take timed mock exams to prepare for the pace.
- Analyse every mock test: separate errors into concept gaps, calculation slips and time pressure, and fix one group at a time.
- Keep a short error notebook and revise it weekly, since repeated mistakes cost more marks than new ones.
